Il Piccolo calls for homemade suppers with that cultivated Venetian style and an eagerness for local flavors. Nine tables are quite enough for its particular kind of magic: a little candlelit world with the campiello looking in. Some of the most irresistible pleasures from our kitchen and pastry counter are entirely plant-based; others take their cue from the lagoon and the land.
