This is the first clue that aperitivo at Il Piccolo is taken rather seriously. There are several variations, cocktails made with herbs from the lagoon, and a cicchetto chosen for each drink, including entirely vegan and gluten-free creations. From the salotto, the large windows frame the rio and the gondoliers passing by. Occasionally, one comes in for a prosecchino.
We consider this more persuasive than most reviews.

Outside, a few tables spill onto Calle XXII Marzo. One drink is usually the plan,
though the tide has been known to turn before anyone gets around to leaving.
