Fondazione Prada

The historic baroque style palace was built between 1723 and 1728 by Domenico Rossi on behalf of the Corner family of San Cassiano. Ca’ Corner stands on the ruins of the Gothic building where Caterina Cornaro, the future Queen of Cyprus, was born in 1454. In 1800, the palace became the property of Pope Pius VII who assigned it to the congregation of the Cavanis Fathers. Until 1969, it was the headquarters of the Monte di Pietà, while from 1975 to 2010 it hosted the ASAC, the Historical Archive of Contemporary Arts of the Venice Biennale. Since 2011, finally, it has hosted exhibitions and cultural activities organized by the Fondazione Prada.
